The suspension of former Los Angeles left-handed pitcher Juliourias will close on Wednesday and qualify for signing with the Major League Baseball team on Thursday.
Urias was suspended in the first half of the 2025 season due to a domestic violence incident that occurred outside of BMO Stadium after a LAFC match.
Urias was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence, and the city’s lawyers’ office filed five misdemeanor charges against him. Four of them were dropped, and he didn’t appeal to the other person for the contest and entered a one-year domestic violence treatment program.

Urias was placed on a administrative leave for the last month of the 2023 season. Urias hasn’t pitched in MLB or elsewhere since.
Urias is currently set to return from the restricted list, and his agent, Scott Bolas, said he has several options when he enters the free agency.
“He still has every intention to continue his career,” Bolas said through the LA Times. “He’s in good health. Obviously he has an open option for him.”
According to Bill Shaikin of the LA Times, “It is believed that multiple teams have checked in with Urias, but it is unclear whether the deal will be hit, and if so, he may be able to help the major league team.”
In 2023, Urias went 11-8 with an ERA 4.60, enduring the worst full season of his career.
However, in 2021 and 2022 he emerged as one of the best pitchers in baseball, finishing in seventh and third place in the CY Young vote, respectively. He was 20-3 with ERA 2.96 in 2021 and 17-7 with ERA 2.16 in 2022.
This was the second suspension of the Urias. He was also suspended in 20 games in 2019 after being arrested on suspicion of domestic battery.
