Following news of his arrest, Peppy’s wife posted a statement on Instagram in response to allegations against the 22-game veteran.
“My name is Samara Mello. I am Godofdredo Peppy’s wife and I am also a survivor of domestic violence,” Mello wrote on Instagram. “There’s nothing that many people want to say, domestic violence is a real thing in the world of sports and a taboo that rarely has the courage to mention in the combat sports community. We can’t pretend it doesn’t exist.
“Today, I am regaining myself and am very grateful that I have survived to make a difference in the lives of other women now. When violence occurs in your home, it needs to not only destroy one family, but also affect the entire community. We need to stop violence from growing. It depends now on our decisions.
Pepey chose not to renew his contract following consecutive losses when the promotion last fought in the UFC in 2018. He accumulated a record of 5-6 overall in the promotions. Since then, Pepey has only fought three times in his recent appearance in 2022, which suffered a loss for Ares FC.
