Former UFC fighter Greg Hardy is currently in prison and is awaiting arrest after being arrested on charges related to assaulting a family member in Richardson, Texas.
Prison officials confirmed that MMA Fighting was arrested and remains in custody on Thursday, but no other information is available at this time. Hardy was arrested Wednesday around 2:29pm local time, and he is expected to stand before a judge on Thursday.
TMZ first reported it.
Domestic violence charges related to “cause of attack/physical injury to a family” can involve traditional household members such as husband/wife, ex-husband, wife, children, etc., but the fees may also be related to siblings, domestic partners, roommates, etc.
Hardy, 36, last fought in the UFC in 2022, losing three consecutive promotions before being released from contract.
Of course, Hardy is best known for his soccer career, playing defense for many teams, including the Dallas Cowboys.
The signature with the UFC was hit quickly after Hardy was arrested in 2014 on domestic violence charges and was told he attacked his then-girlfriend while he was still in the NFL. Hardy was initially convicted, but the charges were ultimately dismissed after his girlfriend didn’t appear at trial.
Hardy was also arrested in 2016 on another charge of felony possession of a controlled substance after police found cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop.
