Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will be heading to Chicago this Saturday with “wild card” Doricus du Plessis.
Emitted from the United Center, UFC 319 will see “DDP” put on the line in a match where MMA fans appear to be split into the middle in a match against the undefeated Chechnian monster Kamzachmaev.
As it stands, the odds maker is still leaning towards Chimaev and heading towards the top, with “Bolz” trending as a 2-on-1 favorite with a 185-pound crown wrapped around his waist and leaving “Windy City.” However, not everyone is sure that Chimaev will overcome South Africa, which is against the odds.
“I go to ddp just because I hate them when they try to force a star. I hate them when they try to groom someone something,” Woodley said in an interview courtesy of Action Network. “You’ll make them fight, let them sort out what they’re trying to do. And there was a lot of grooming and a lot of talk and a lot of hype. I’ll give him his credit.
Both Chimaev and Dricus du Plessis are undefeated in the UFC
So far, Du Plessis is the perfect 9-0 under the UFC banner. It’s a particularly impressive feat when you consider that “Stillknocks” opened as underdogs in seven of the nine battles, including Tilt in the title against Sean Strickland and Israel Adesanya.
Of course, the “DDP” never faced a fierce fighter like Chimaev, leading many who believed that the Russian-born Boogieman was ragging the path to another dominant victory within the octagon.
Chimaev enters the opportunity for his first UFC title last year with his recent victory in teeth-shattered obedience to Robert Whitaker in Abu Dhabi.
