Bob Myers was successful as general manager of the Golden State Warriors, but he mostly quit before. He struggled in 2019. The warriors suffered serious injuries, which led to their losses.

The Golden State Warriors were a legal dynasty in the late 2010s. They already had a core group that won 73 games in the 2015-16 regular season. In addition to that core, they signed Kevin Durant and won two championships.

They were on their way to win three consecutive championships on the roster loaded in 2019. Unfortunately, for a team led by Bob Myers, they lost the Toronto Raptors’ NBA Finals.

That loss accelerated the downfall of Golden State, including the Durant exit. It was a dark time for Myers, which led him to leave the Warriors earlier.

Despite playing the 2019 NBA Finals, the Warriors ran a disastrous run in the 2019 playoffs. They took the Portland Trail Blazers by storm in the Western Conference Finals. But they managed to go down in double digits in all games before redoing their comeback.

It was a red flag, and injuries to Durant and Klay Thompson made it worse. That opened the door for the Raptors to capitalize the championship. It was a tough outcome for the warriors as it led to Durant joining the Brooklyn net.

When I remembered that final, Myers mostly talked about quitting. He was oppressed by the consequences, but he had to continue working. After the NBA Finals, the NBA draft was held, and Myers played a key role as GM.

“It was cruel. At the time, before all the events, it was the finals for the fifth time in a row. It’s a long (process) for GM, so I’m driving guys in between. We worked out on parade day.”

“Now, if you win or lose, we have to come back, or we need to sign this extension, and that won’t stop.

“It happened in Durant, it was tough. And Clay happens, at that point you just want to tap out. We lost Game 6, and that’s the last game we’ve played with Oracle. I went back to the locker room and the season was over.

Myers was with the Warriors until May 2023, and this was a good decision. He led the team after the disaster in 2019 and they went through some tough times. It included the 2019-20 season, which earned the overall pick in second place.

Unfortunately, they chose James Weissman, a massive draft bust. They could have had many good players, including missing out on stars like Tyreese Halliburton.

However, the Warriors were well built under Myers and reached the NBA Finals in 2022. They won a series with the Boston Celtics and solidified Myers’ legacy as one of the team’s best general managers.

Myers got stuck and became a championship-winning executive. This was the fourth final title of Trophy Cabinet as GM. He left a year later as one of the most successful executives in the NBA.

He currently works regularly as an analyst at Espan, so he leaves a good legacy. At the same time, he challenged other sports as an advisor to Commander Washington of the NFL. Myers is totally pleased with his career with the Warriors, as he has four rings in his name.
