It was a hot season for Southampton. They got off to a poor start to their lives in the Premier League, resulting in the firing of Russell Martin in December. Ivan Jurik has been appointed to replace him, and he has now followed his loss of work, as he could not be so fair.
Until Southampton’s return to the championship is official, there are still seven Premier League matches, and the new manager will be tasked with ending a disastrous campaign with pride that is played by earning at least two points to avoid being on the worst Premier League side from a point perspective.
English managers appear as Southampton’s work favorite
According to the Birmingham world, the English manager is leading the way in bidding to become Southampton’s next manager.
At this stage, former Nottingham Forest and Leicester City manager Steve Cooper is considered to be his favorite to land the Southampton Post, but he is closely followed by Shawn Dish, Gary O’Neill and Stephen Gerrard. With all four of them not currently working, their arrival could be rushing to decide for the club.
Anyone appointed by Southampton will be tasked with ensuring an immediate return to the Premier League. This will be easier said than done at the championship next season.
