Fox’s Sunday IndyCar thermal club race broadcast averaged 704,000 viewers, down 50% from the opening round of the season in St. Petersburg earlier this month.
Viewer figures were compromised by the Miami Clash NASCAR Cup Series event aired on Sister Fox Sports 1 Channel.
A small portion of Thermal Club races were also influenced by circuit breakers that failed with TV compounds, smearing over 10 laps of streams black.
IndyCar previously recorded a viewer of 788,214 people in last year’s non-championship exhibit race at Thermal Club.
Therefore, from 2024 when NBC held INDYCAR TV rights, television viewers for this year’s Point Painting Race have fallen by about 10% from 2024.
Fox took over the broadcast of IndyCar this year, investing a significant amount in increasing the series’ popularity in the US.
Apart from hiring Formula 1 presenter Will Buxton, he also led the commentary team, also showed ads at this year’s Super Bowl event.
Fox initially enjoyed a surge in audiences at the St. Petersburg race. On average, 1.4 million viewers adjusted to see Alex Pallow win against Scott Dixon.
It gave the best TV ratings for the IndyCar Rounds other than the Indianapolis 500, except that Dunweldon was killed in an accident at the 2011 Las Vegas race.
