Francesco Bagnaia’s hopes to build momentum in the 2025 MotoGP title race were hit even further in a sprint at Le Mans on Saturday.
So far this year, we have not been able to challenge our new teammate, Mark Marquez, at a raw pace.
Until Saturday’s Le Mans Sprint, that’s it.
The Italian, who arrived in France, resigned to the fact that he was unable to revive the sense of last year’s GP24 with the revised GP25 and made the first major race mistake of the season when he lost the front to Dunlop Chicaine on lap 2.
Bagnaia, who was fourth at the time, left with her head in hand, but Gigi d’Or Dina expressed similar disappointment to the Ducati Pitbox.
Fall finished his perfect point in the last 10 races, leaving Bagnaia to 29 points from Alex Marquez and 31 points from Marc Marquez.
While Bagnaia continues to struggle with the front feel of the sprint and continue to reject new fuel tanks, Mark continues his unbeaten Saturday run with the perfect sixth victory of the season.
“FP2 was very good this morning. I felt good and I was ready for qualifying. After that, the qualifying was confused,” Bagnaia told Motogp.com. “Unfortunately, I’m not fast with soft front tires. I struggle to push the way I want. I know that the other riders are stronger than me on the soft front. But sixth place on this track isn’t that bad.”

“My feelings with the front are not there.”
There was a “zero” warning, but the fall type wouldn’t have been a surprise for Bagnaia, who has struggled with frontal feelings at the GP25 since pre-season testing.
“No, zero (warning). I was a little slower and had less lean angle, but still lost the front,” he explained. “When you don’t feel the front, you can crash like this without predicting what the front is doing.”
“Unfortunately, from the beginning of the season, my feelings with the front aren’t there,” Bagnaia continued. “And it can crash like this, so I’m just looking forward to solving the problem and understanding the situation.”
Bagnaia – I feel normal well with the standard fuel tank on Sunday – now I want to realize my top two possibilities at the Grand Prix.
“If we can survive in the first two laps, corner three, I think there’s a chance!” he said. “Except for the front, I am happy with the bike, but I think I can compete for the top two.
“We had a pace today. We have a pace tomorrow. Once the distance is doubled, I’ll close the gap and take another step.
The last time Bagnaia crashed in the sprint race was during the penultimate round at Sepang.
