Franco Morbidelli of VR46 Ducati Motogp Rider says the “orange card” from Fim Motogp Stewards is a “benefit” for rivals as they face more severe penalties.
Following numerous incidents over the 2025 season, including a clash with Jorge Martin in the Sprint and an episode of ignoring Marshall’s instructions in the main race at the Catalonian Grand Prix, the Fim Steward has informed the Italians.
As reported by Crash.NET, Franco Morbidelli will receive a ride-through penalty for the next attack:
If this happens, Morbidelli faces a racial ban if he is involved in a subsequent punishable crime.
Morbidelli, who was third overall on Friday at the San Marino Grand Prix, feels that from the stewards it “feels like he’s using an orange card,” and feels this has an advantage in taking advantage of his rivals as they need to dial back offensive levels.
“I’m definitely not offensive, to reduce the risk of some events that can be read as an offensive,” he said.
“So I’m definitely not offensive.
“This is an advantage for my opponents, if they are good, they certainly can use this in their advantage.
“But this is something I have to do to avoid experiencing episodes that can be read aggressively.”
When asked if this ultimatum from the steward was placed until the end of the season or for the selected number of races, he added:
“The deal means I need to pay more attention to some of the moves I make and that’s what I’m trying to do.
“Indeed, to convince me this even more, the steward gave me this kind of warning – a special warning.
“That’s what I’m trying to do, I definitely work to be less aggressive and definitely more accurate.
“But if I make a mistake, I’ll pay quite heavily, so I have to close the attack button completely.”
