Fred Vasser has signed a “multi-year” contract extension to continue as Ferrari’s team principal.
Vasser’s future has been the subject of intense speculation after reports in Italian media claimed Ferrari was considering firing the Frenchman.
These reports were scraped off by Ferrari and scolded by Vassar. He will remain in his position for “the upcoming F1 season.”
Ferrari says Vaserre’s ability to “lead under pressure, embrace innovation and pursue performance is perfectly in line with Ferrari’s values and long-term ambitions.
“Under Fred’s leadership, Scuderia Ferrari HP is united, focused and committed to continuous improvement.
“The trust he places on him reflects his confidence in the team’s strategic direction and reinforces a common resolve that Ferrari fans, drivers and team members expect and delivers the results they deserve.”
Vasseur was supported by both Ferrari drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclair.
Seven-time world champion Hamilton declared Vaserre “who brings us to the top” and “the main reason why I’m on this team.”
Vasseur said of his new deal:
“We have laid a strong foundation for the past 30 months, and now we need to build them with consistency and determination.
“We know what is expected, and we are all fully committed to meeting those expectations and taking the next step together.”
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna added:
“It reflects Fred’s trust in leadership. It is trust rooted in shared ambitions, mutual expectations, and clear responsibility. We move forward with determination and focus and pursue the level of performance that Ferrari must aim for.”
