French coach Fabian Gartier complained about the series’ umpire against New Zealand and called out several decisions after defeats in Dunedin and Wellington, airing complaints against the Scrum.
As All Black is about to seal the series’ sweep in the third final test held in Hamilton on Saturday, Galthié told French media he hopes he will be neutral from the judges.
“The scrum and the ball need to be carried to properly umpire,” he said.
“I usually don’t stick to judgement, but when there are expectations, I share them.
“Obviously we need to be hosting as if we were playing on neutral ground. Neutrality.”
Galthié highlighted two instances with a 43-17 loss at Wellington, and the French thought it was shortened.
He said that the Frenchman set up the mall and the balls rang out on the line just to bear, and in the second half, all black Geordy Barrett illegally went into the rack.
“Obviously, Barrett goes into an offside position on the flank,” he said. “For me, it’s a penalty try and a yellow card.”
He also took the umbrella with an intercept by All Blacks winger Lieko Ioan, who stopped the French attack on the Triline near the right corner.
“When he intercepts the ball on Leo Barre’s final pass… he’s offside the whole time, he has penalty trys and yellow cards.
“I’m happy there’s that difference in the score, but that’s two tries and two yellow cards.”
Reuters contacted World Rugby, the Global Governing Body, appointing a test judge, for comments.
