With this year’s second major on the horizon, the British tennis star is gearing up for another shot of glory.

Roland Garros’ clay courts have traditionally not been a happy hunting ground for the British, particularly for male athletes. If Jack Draper could win his first major, he would be the third man in history to win the French Open.

On the women’s side of the draw, Emma Radukanu and Katie Boulter are keeping an eye on each other’s outcomes as the fight for the first spot in England gets heated in “The City City.”

Men’s single

Jack Draper

World rankings: No. 5 (UK No. 1)

shape: Draper has long been touted as Andy Murray’s successor, but for so far, big victories have escaped him. However, there are signs that may change soon. Until the success of the Indian Wells in March, which won the first ATP Tour title of his career at the Stuttgart Open last June, and until the semi-finals of the US Open in the interim, his eye-catching rise is considered one of the leading candidates he lifts. Musketeer Cup In Paris.

The 23-year-old Rubbers papered his qualifications by reaching the first clay court final of his career in Madrid earlier this month. Draper had been battling injuries during his early career, but if he can reach the highest level at Roland Garros he can jump up and down to Superstarm.

shape: Jacob Fianley tries to continue his own rise as he heads for Paris.

The Worcester-born 23-year-old enrolled in the Top 200 in August 2024, but has already beaten the former Wimbledon finalist on his resume. He reached the third round at the Australian Open in January after beating home favourite Nick Kilgoth in the much-anticipated comeback.

Last year’s performance: Fearnley has not competed with the main attractions of the French Open before.

Female single

Katie Boulter

World rankings: No. 38 (UK No. 1)

shape: Katie Boulter has spent the past few months looking over her shoulder. For the past two years she was the uncontroversial number one British woman, but Laducanu’s recent advancement meant that if she had passed Kokogoff in Rome on May 12, the former US Open winner had reclaimed the top spot.

Boulter won one victory between Madrid and Rome – against the world 64 against Katerina Senior Kova. However, she was hoping she would be adapting to Clay last week when she won the low-ranked WTA 125K Paris event.

Emma Radukanu

World rankings: No. 43 (UK No. 2)

shape: Emma Laducanu’s rise and fall is well documented, but the former US Open winner may be ready for a famous comeback.

She appears to be thriving under the “unofficial” coaching arrangement that attacked with Mark Pecchi. She may have been hit hard by Australia’s second-largest Iga Swaitek, but since then she has run to the quarterfinals of the Miami Open and the Italian Open Round.

However, there were new fitness concerns on Wednesday as Laducane was injured four days before the French opening in a three-set defeat to Daniel Collins.

Sonay Kartal

World rankings: No. 53 (English No. 3)

shape: Sonay Kartal moved three locations to No. 53 on Monday, making his first main draw appearance at Roland Garros this year.

Although she is considered a clear outsider of the French capital, Cartal has experienced disrupting the odds. She raised her eyebrows last year by reaching the third round at Wimbledon. But she traditionally found Clay’s victory a bit difficult to come.

Last year’s performance: Cartal has not competed with the main attraction of the French Open before.

shape: This year’s event marks the first time that Jody Ballage has in his main draw. She had never passed her first qualifying round in the French capital before.

Last year’s performance: Burrage has not competed with the main attractions of the French Open before.
