Chelsea is interested in signing Spanish defender Mario Gira from Italian club Lazio.
According to a report from IL suggesto via Linterista, Chelsea has submitted an offer of 35 million euros to the 24-year-old central defender, but Lazio is on hold at a rate of around 50 million euros.
We recently featured a report that Chelsea could submit an offer to Gila. They appear to have acted on their interests. Tottenham and Manchester City are also linked to players.
The former Real Madrid Academy alumni is an important player for the Italian club and it’s no surprise that Chelsea is enthusiastic about him. They need to string them back together, and the Spaniards could prove to be a quality acquisition.
The 24-year-old passed the ranks at Real Madrid and left the club in 2022. The Spanish giant is expected to receive a substantial amount from his sale, including a sale clause in his contract. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea has decided to improve their offers in the coming weeks.
Chelsea needs defensive depth
Gira can operate as a central defender and as a fullback. He has the qualities to succeed in the Premier League. He could be a key player for Chelsea.
The Blues have qualified for the Champions League and are looking to compete for the trophy next season. They look vulnerable at the back this past season and need to improve in that area of the pitch.
Premier League moves may be attractive to Mario Gira
Gira has shown his quality in Italy and it remains to be seen whether he is ready to move to England now. It’s an exciting challenge for him and he can test himself against world-class Premier League players.
Chelsea have the resources to pay him 50 million euros, and it will be interesting to see how things unfold.
