The Reds legend spent 17 years at Merseyside after passing through the Academy in Liverpool, before making his debut in 1998.

During that time, Gerrard never won the Premier League, but he fell as one of the greatest players Top Flight has ever seen. Around the world, Gerrard was known for getting everything you need to become a superstar, becoming a top midfielder, and scoring goals from afar.

He may have managed to leave Liverpool multiple times during his career, but remained red until 2015, calling for the time of his career, following a brief stint in MLS with the LA Galaxy.

Over the years at Anfield, Gerrard will play with some of the best, including names such as Xabi Alonso, Luis Suarez, and Fernando Torres. The English legend actually name him the star XI of Liverpool XI, the biggest liverpool XI that he played, and Gerrard has pretty correctly named himself on the side.

Liverpool legends focused on debate…

Gerrard is better than Messi, once known as Liverpool Flop Joecole

In 2010, Messi was already once and soon became the winner of two Ballon d’Or, and was considered one of the best on the planet.

However, Liverpool had just signed Joe Cole on a free transfer after his departure from Chelsea, catching Gerrard’s eye in his early days at Anfield.

In fact, Gerrard said that Cole left him shocked by the training and told him that his fellow British could do better than Messi.

“Messi can do some amazing things, but whatever he can do, Joe can do that too.

Gerrard may have supported the 2010/11 Player of the Year Award call, but he scored two Premier League goals in 20 appearances, lending the following season to Lille before finally departing for a permanent West Ham in January 2013.

For Liverpool’s Cole, things didn’t go well in the way he and Gerrard imagined. It’s fair to say that he and Messi’s careers went in a completely different direction after that 2010/11 campaign.
