The LA Lakers lost a star who played very well in the NBA Summer League and suffered a timing injury.
The Los Angeles Lakers took advantage of the NBA Summer League and gave the younger stars the opportunity to play big time and show potential.
Some people get opportunities in their journey, while others flutter. Surprisingly, Dalton Knecht performs very poorly in Las Vegas.
Knecht has his first experience with the Lakers, but that wasn’t his tournament. Luckily for the Lakers, Bronnie James has shown a huge improvement.
Bronnie was a standout for the Lakers in the summer league and was a really strong outing when given the opportunity.
Unfortunately, for the Lakers, one of the other Summer League stars suffered a brutal injury. This could affect their plans.
Darius Buzley suffered a painful injury during the La Lakers Summer League match against the Boston Celtics.
It is not clear what kind of injuries he suffered, but he helped him get off the court after playing in just eight minutes. The Lakers’ Summer League signature had a strong tournament, dropping 27 points in one game.
La Lakers fans took X to share their sympathy for Bazley’s injury. “He was planning to sign a contract with the team after the league this summer. This is very sad,” one fan wrote.
Another Lakers fan agreed, saying, “I just knew his knee was torn apart and I just ball out the entire summer league.”
One fan predicted how serious Bazley’s injuries were and said, “Wow, his knee/legs gave him, so it’s likely that he needs end-of-season surgery.”
However, another fan feels like Bazley can bounce back, claiming “He has a lot of possibilities!”
Lakers fans pointed out how difficult it is to succeed in the NBA, saying, “This is why it’s so difficult to succeed in the NBA. This happens when it appears that at last you might have a real chance with an NBA team…”
Another fan added how the injury would cost Bazley, saying “He was at least on a two-way contract in the league.”
He’s unlikely to win a contract from the La Lakers or other NBA teams, probably because Darius Bazley has been out for a long time.
So the Lakers may have to see some of the other signatures from the summer league. Cole Swider was a strong star for the Lakers in Las Vegas.
Perhaps the front office offers him two-way deals. It may be wise for the Lakers to look outside their team for two-way players.
The summer league was an opportunity for several unsigned players to win contracts. The Lakers’ scouting division was able to rush another outstanding performer from another team.
Either way, consider how young people played in the summer league, so hopefully the Lakers will make youth development a priority.
