Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has made it clear that he believes Alejandro Garnacho should leave the club as it doesn’t fit in the system of Reuben Amorim.
The former Red Devils defender says he is a huge Garnacho fan, but he can’t see Argentina International getting at the club due to the tactics used by Amorim.
Speaking on YouTube, Ferdinand emphasized that if he was someone to advise Garnacho, he would take the opportunity to join someone like Naples.
There is speculation about Garnacho’s future in January, imagining that the 20-year-old still faces uncertainty as summer approaches.
Ferdinand feels it makes sense for Garnacho to try something different for Amorim’s current development and get out of United.
Alejandro Garnacho has encouraged him to seek a transfer from Manchester United.
Discussing the situation in Garnacho, Ferdinand said:
“If Amorim wasn’t there as manager, if there was a manager who played with the winger, I wouldn’t sell Garnacho. There’s no chance. I’m leaving him here.
“I love him. He may not be in his best form right now, but I love Garnacho. He has the confidence and rog haughtyness to want him to be the best.
“He may not be experiencing that spell now. It happens to all young players… but the system the manager plays doesn’t suit him.
“So if I’m an advisor to him, or his team, I’m saying, ‘Thank you guys, but I want to go now.’
“And if I’m his advisor, I want him in an environment where I can make the most of him, and if I’m holding him, I’ll leave.
United fans will surely have mixed feelings about this as they may risk putting top talent like Garnacho out of another major European club.
Garnacho has great potential and may be a player worth rebuilding, but it seems unlikely that Amorim will change the system with just one player at the same time.
