Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas explains why Chris Paul is the top five point guard, but not even the top ten in another category.
Many believed that Chris Paul’s NBA career was more or less over when it was traded by the Phoenix Suns after a three-year stint with the franchise.
But once again CP3 found a way to reinvent itself and played with the San Antonio Spurs to close the 20th season of his career.
Paul’s NBA future has a cloud of doubt as he will soon turn 40. Meanwhile, former NBA star Gilbert Arena dropped another view on Paul.
It’s possible that Paul played the final game of his NBA career. With that in mind, many have already begun to share their honest views on the CP3 journey, including the arena.
In a recent video, the Arena gave Paulo one of the best point guards to play in the league, but claimed he was not a good passerby. So Agent 0 would choose Tyrees Halliburton of the Indiana Pacers over Paul in that division.
“Chris Paul is a great point guard. I can say he’s the top five point guard ever, but when you’re talking about the best passerby ever, we’re not in the top ten. That’s talent.
“But that’s why I made a magic (Johnson), a great point guard. I walk past, and I have (Tylese Halliburton) there. I make him higher than Chris Paul.”
Hari is currently one of the most fun players in the league. He is known for his incredibly flashy passes. CP3 has never been incorporated into his arsenal.
The former Golden State Warriors star explained more about his points, explaining the biggest difference between the two security guards.
“I wasn’t making him a better point guard than Chris Paul, but do you just pass on his abilities? Chris Paul plays the game slowly and plays playoff style.
“He’s trying to keep the ball from tipping over. How does Halliburton play the game? Everyone who plays the game makes a fast turnover.”
Arenas has a good argument for Halliburton, but at the end of the day most teams will have sales-conscious security guards above those with a rather risky playing style.
