Crystal Palace won a narrow victory in the first game of the conference league playoffs against Fredrikstad.
They will be leaving their Norwegian homes to finish their work in the second round. There was already speculation that the Eagles could become one of their favorites to win tournaments this season.
However, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner urged his club to be humbled about the situation and not worry too much about the future. He wants the team to focus on the present and continue to perform at a high level, rather than worrying about winning the tournament.
Oliver Glasner has a warning
“I think it’s arrogant to think about when you first compete about winning it,” he added via Miller.
“This is the first time the palace has played in the UK in a competitive game (a major European competition), so it’s important to stay humble. This is what we do as a team.”
Glasner is excellent in the palace
Glasner has done an exceptional job at Crystal Palace up until now, and he has helped them win the FA Cup and Community Shield. There is no doubt that they have the quality to win European tournaments as well. They have a talented team and top managers.
However, they need to consistently continue to perform at a high level. On top of that, they should ask the team to add more quality and depth before the windows close. They need to properly spin the squad to keep players fresh through busy campaigns.
It will be interesting to see if you can add more quality to the rest of the window.
Meanwhile, they will become favorites heading into the second game against Fredrikstad FK. It is still unclear whether they will be able to get the job done.
