This weekend’s BSB test at Donington will be the second official test of the 2025 preseason, but it will be the first in the UK after Paddock heads to Spain for two days in Navara at the beginning of April. And for Glenn Irwin, that means an opportunity to try out some new components on the PBM Ducati Panigale V4 R.
Irwin had a new seat to try out at the Navara Test a few weeks ago, but Northern Ireland riders say they have items to test additional items at Donington this week on April 18-19.
“We’re all looking forward to the Donington test,” Irwin said.
“In Navara, this year was a lot different and it was a great test, but it was important to not be satisfied.
“In Donington, you have to try out newer items. This becomes a priority. It all comes first. Once you do it, you’ll see it well on your timesheets, but it also becomes a more racial rhythm than a fast one-off rap.”
He finished Navara’s test at the top of the timesheet, but Irwin took part in the two-day Spanish test, focusing on technical work and emotions rather than headline time. This is a similar attitude ahead of the first preseason test on the UK coast.
“In Navara, we found areas that were weak last year but not this year, so we were able to use this as a reference,” he said.
“In Donington, we know the trucks well, we know where we need to be, but for me it’s not just getting too obsessed with what the timesheet says, it’s about continuing to appreciate what we have and understanding all the senses.
“If it feels good and we’re good, we’re happy.”
Jordan Bird, co-owner of the PBM Racing Team, added:
“I look forward to seeing lots of BSB fans on the trackside at Donington Park. I hope the sun shines.”
