The Los Angeles will enter the National League Championship Series without left-handed pitcher Tanner Scott, who underwent lower-body abscess surgery this week.

Scott was removed from the team’s National League Division Series roster and is therefore ineligible to be on the NLCS roster. But if LA makes it that far, he’ll be eligible for a spot on the World Series roster.
Manager Dave Roberts did not mention Scott’s possible inclusion on the World Series roster when discussing Scott’s injury Thursday.
“I still feel like the World Series, if we’re lucky enough to get there, he’ll be available,” Roberts said before Game 4 of the NLDS.
General manager Brandon Gomez provided a slightly more detailed timeline for Scott’s return, which is in line with Roberts’ thoughts.
“It looks like anywhere from seven days to two weeks,” Gomez told reporters Thursday.

Game 1 of the World Series won’t be played until Oct. 24, and Scott has two weeks to recover, and Gomez’s timeline puts him on track to return.
As for how the medical issue arose, Roberts said the team began noticing the problem during Tuesday night’s practice. Gomez had a little more information than the captain.
“It seemed uncomfortable,” Gomez said. “Then we thought he was on the other side of the disease. Then it got so bad that he needed surgery.”
Scott had a trying first season with the after signing a four-year, $72 million contract this offseason. He appeared in 61 games, posting a 4.74 ERA and a league-best 10 saves. He did not appear in either the Wild Card Series against the Cincinnati Reds or the NLDS against the Philadelphia Phillies before being removed from the roster.
