One Golden State Warriors analyst can’t believe Jonathan Kuminga has the daringness to make these demands.
The Golden State Warriors are dressed in the most excruciating retention pattern when it comes to negotiations with Jonathan Kuminga.
After Kuminga rejected the Warriors’ $75.2 million offer, the star agents went on a massive media tour to explain their stance.
Kuminga’s agents want Warriors to offer player options rather than current team options.
In fact, they argued that Kuminga needed less money to help the Warriors sign players like Al Horford. But one longtime analyst has none.
Mark Willard, along with Dan Diblee, spoke about comments made by Jonathan Cuminga’s agent Aaron Turner yesterday on his radio show Willard and Dibbs.
Willard denounced the idea that Kuminga is trying to help a team when demand for more minutes and player options is inherently selfish.
“When Jonathan Cuminga’s agent Aaron Turner says, ‘Give me a player’s option. We’ve been bought…”, it’s the opposite of being bought.
“And it’s a big reminder of him that he admitted that Jonathan did in the game. When they said, “Give me a few minutes.”
“I don’t care who you are and who you like in this situation. You can’t get mad at it.
For all the sensations Willard is doing, that may not matter. Jonathan Cuminga and his agents have the Golden State Warriors on the barrel.
Franchises don’t make things easier for them. It doesn’t look good to him for Steve Kerr to demand Kuminga like Aaron Gordon.
Plus, Cuminga knows that he has received a $7.9 million qualifying offer, a Warriors nightmare scenario with a non-trade clause.
The Warriors front office doesn’t have much time before the October 1 deadline, so we hope that we can quickly resolve this situation.
