Jonathan Cuminga and the Golden State Warriors have yet to reach an agreement on a new contract extension.
Jonathan Kuminga, the seventh overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, was expected to become a key member of the Golden State Warriors.
The Warriors have long supported Kuminga, but it appears they have given up on the acquisition of Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat at the 22-year-old Post.
He failed to trust Kuminga, which puts him a great deal of responsibility on Coach Steve Kerr. Currently, Kuminga and Warriors are currently in a stalemate over new contract extensions.
The Warriors’ inactivity is directly related to the inability to sign a new contract with Kuminga. Kuminga is reportedly hoping to get a $30 million worth of contract from Dubs.
Rumors about Kuminga’s request have recently been confirmed by well-known NBA insider Marc Stein.
But what does Dub Nation think of this request? Well, the majority of our fanbase is not ready to accommodate the asking price of Cuminga.
“It’s not happening,” the fan wrote. Another was added, but “He will probably find it right next to Noah’s Ark.”
“He’s not worth that kind of money,” the third fan added.
“To be honest, no one cares anymore,” the annoyed fan said.
“Man, all this speculation and rumors are exhausting,” the fifth fan wrote.
To be honest, most fans are either tired or don’t believe that Cuminga is worth a lot of money each year. In context, the previous lottery pick averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game last season.
Are these decent numbers? yes. But are they worth making around $30 million a year? Most would say no.
In a modern age where NBA players earn millions of people a year, Stephen Curry feels that the new CBA is designed to make less money.
Kuminga feels like he shares the thought process as a teammate of his superstars as he stands in his position against the warrior.
At this point, it is a well-known fact that the lack of warriors’ movements this offseason is due to the inability to solve the Cuminga problem.
So, what is the solution? Now, at this point, both sides should simply find the intermediate ground in a different way. As Austin Rivers pointed out, the Warriors do not appear to be interested in developing Kuminga.
At the same time, Kuminga doesn’t seem keen to commit to warriors in the long term.
