Golden State Warriors fans should expect one star to be different in the 2024-25 NBA season.
After a shaky offseason, the Golden State Warriors appear to have been able to build a solid roster for the 2025-26 NBA season.
Although it’s still preseason, the new Warriors looked solid. The main reason for that is the addition of Al Horford.
Horford is expected to be the Dubs’ starting center, but given his age, it’s clear the former Boston Celtics star won’t be able to play much longer.
Over the past two seasons, Trayce Jackson-Davis has slowly developed into a solid player for the Warriors. In fact, Davis started 37 games for the Warriors during the 2024-25 season.
Some might expect Horford’s arrival to ease his role. However, Festus Ezeli claims the Warriors have exactly the opposite plan.
“Trayce Jackson-Davis, his importance is going to be huge this season. Al Horford isn’t supposed to play every game. You need a big player there,” Ezeli said on Dub Talk.
To date, Davis has averaged 7.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 64.2 percent from the field in his career.
However, Ezeli expects Davis to improve significantly next season. why? he explained next.
The 6-foot-9 forward/center was listed at 245 pounds heading into the 2025-26 season. However, Ezeli revealed that Davis lost weight during the offseason.
“I talked to Trayce and he’s been losing some weight this season and working on his conditioning, his explosiveness, his ability to get to the rim.
“His inside presence is going to be very important for the Warriors,” Ezeli said.
The Warriors primarily rely on perimeter shooters for scoring, but Davis’ development will help head coach Steve Kerr add another layer to his offensive scheme.
