Golf analyst Ian Baker Finch will retire in 19 years

Ian Baker-Finch is retired after earning a nearly three-year career as a golf commentator following his professional playing day.

The announcement came on Tuesday in a statement posted on CBS Sports’ X account. Baker-Finch, 64, has spent the past 19 years on the broadcasting station.

As a player, the Australian is most recognized for his victory at the 1991 Open Championship at Royal Burkdale. Baker-Finch began his broadcasting career at ESPN in 1998 and joined CBS in 2007.

“After 19 years as a golf analyst at CBS Sports and 30 amazing 30 years of travel in the industry, I am announcing my retirement from broadcast,” Baker-Finch said in a statement. “Golf has been a big part of my life. I’ve been lucky enough to compete with the best players in the game and work with the best jobs on TV these days. My CBS Sports family – my teammates, producers, directors, crew – thank you to your incredible talent and Camarely.
