Robert Holly is one of the most skilled NBA role players of all time, with seven titles in his name.
Robert Holly’s most notable stints were the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs.
He played with talented stars, including Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan. Obviously, Holly knows one or two things about the NBA greats.
During Holly’s five-year tenure with the Spurs, he shared the courtroom with the greatest point guard of all time in Tony Parker.
In 17 seasons with the Spurs, Parker helped the team win four NBA championships. He also won six NBA All-Star selections in his accomplished career.
Nevertheless, when Holly was asked to “start, bench, cut” between Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving and Parker, the 7X NBA champions decided to cut his former Spurs teammate.
“Starting, Steph. Kylie gets off the bench, Tony, goodbye, goodbye.
“So it’s not rude to Tony. It’s just the truth, you know me. I’ll keep it basically and keep it real,” Holly said on the Big Shot Bob podcast.
Holly tries to ease the blow, but Parker doesn’t know how his former teammate chooses two point guards over him.
Parker scored 18 years of stints in the NBA, averaging 15.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023 as a player.
Despite his nearly two years in the NBA, the French star has been looking at his comeback to the world’s biggest basketball league.
This time, Parker is reportedly focusing on his NBA head coaching job. Considering he spent 17 seasons as a point guard under legendary Greg Popovich, Parker could be a great head coach.
For now, he is the president and manager of the ASVEL basketball team in France.
