The race to sign England international midfielder Angel Gomez is fierce in the summer transfer window.
The Reel midfielder is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, with Premier League clubs lined up to sign him.
The 24-year-old was impressed with his performance at a French club this season, which earned him a call to the English team.
West Ham United’s reel midfielder Angel Gomez’s pursuit reportedly ended in disappointment despite personal intervention from manager Graham Potter.
According to Claret & Hugh, Potter called Gomes directly in a final groove effort to convince him to join the Hammer.
However, the 24-year-old England International rejected the move and instead chose to consider other Premier League offers.
After not persuading Gomez at the transfer window in January, Potter decided to put the matter into his own hands and attempted to persuade the player himself over the phone.
The manager discussed his vision for the West Ham team Gomez and tried to persuade him with his idea of players moving forward.
Angel Gomez wasn’t impressed with West Ham’s manager
However, players were not impressed by what they heard from the West Ham manager.
Despite these efforts, Gomez is understood to have received multiple offers from Premier League clubs, including Fulham, Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.
The player welcomes his return to club Manchester United as a boy, but the Red Devils are currently not keen to bring him back to Old Trafford.
West Ham’s current struggle, including dips in form and a position just above the demoting zone, could have influenced Gomez’s decision.
In contrast, clubs like Fulham and Palace are reportedly playing with more confidence and talent, making them more attractive destinations for midfielders.
Potter is likely preparing for a massive liquidation with the club as it aims to make a big difference this summer.
As far as target attacks go, Hammer is keeping an eye on League One striker Jonathan David.
