Hakeem Olajuwon once commented on Victor Wembanyma.
Victor Wenbanyama is the most talked-about prospect of joining the NBA since LeBron James. When he first joined the league there was a great deal of hype about French unicorns.
And almost instantly, Wenby showed that he was more than just a hype. Even legends like Kevin Garnett were impressed by Wenbagnama’s skills when he won the Rookie of the Year award.
But what really stood out about Wenbañama was his respect for the legend of the sport, trying to shape his game after the greats who came before him.
Wenbanyama recently contacted Hakeem Olajuwon to help him work on his game. Olajuwon kindly refused Wenbanyama at first, but it appears he has recently changed his mind.
Hakeem Olajuwon turned down a request for training for Victor Wenbanyama a few months ago, informing the French superstar that he has all the tools to succeed anyway.
“He asked about it, I told him, ‘You’ve already got everything… just have fun.’ He has it all.
However, Wenby appears to have managed to convince the two-time NBA champion. This is because the two were recently drawn by setting time at the gym.
Perhaps Wen Bangyama made a special request with Orajuwon and convinced him to work on his post game.
Victor Wembanyama really did his job to improve ahead of the new NBA season. He’s played well over the last few years, but he knows he needs to take it to another level next season.
The Spurs put together a strong roster and helped set the culture with a great young core and a presence of some healthy veterans.
However, their success will almost entirely depend on how well Wenbañama plays next season. He is the best player on the country mile.
Given that he won All-Star and All-NBA honors last season, we hope Wenbanyama will take it a step further and appear in the mix of MVP Awards next season.
