Behold, spring camp told another story of the as Kim struggled to adapt to major league pitching. The infielder’s defense is untouched, but manager Dave Roberts admitted there’s still more work to do with Kim’s bats.
“Defensively, I think it’s going to be very seamless,” Roberts said of the transition. “Adversarial, he certainly has speed. Control, he goes right down his path. It’s slow movement, dealing with speed, and being able to handle balls that use the entire field. He can play the ball.
Kim didn’t travel to Japan with his team and began a minor season to improve offensively. It appears that the have made the right move as Kim is off to a strong start with Triple A.
For the Oklahoma City Comets, the short stop hit .286 with a 1.158 OPS. Kim scored doubles, triples and four RBIs in the Comets’ 8-2 victory over the Space Cowboys on Saturday.
Kim boldly chose to join the despite receiving offers from other teams throughout the posting process. He knew he had to fight for the spot alongside the defending champion, and the 26-year-old is certainly on the right track as he continues to prove himself as a minor.
If Kim continues to do such statistical lines in the coming months, the could promote him faster and faster.
