Los Angeles infielder Heisen Kim continues to be impressed when he arrived at major league baseball.

The signed Kim on a three-year, $12.5 million contract in the offseason, and traded Gavin Lux a few days later. Lux’s departure appears to be known for Kim as the first second baseman of the team in the 2025 campaign. However, the four-time KBO Gold Glover struggled with the plate this spring, leaving him with a minor and began the season.
When Tommy Edman was on the list injured with inflammation in his right ankle, the called out Kim as a temporary replacement. In 14 games, Kim has been batting .452 with 14 hits and an OPS of 1.065 since joining the big league team.
Kim’s breakout performance sparked a pivot for the and, once Edman was activated, the team chose to release Chris Taylor instead, instead of sending the infielder back to the minors.
Baseball Business Chairman Andrew Friedman has stoked the highly praise of the Rookie, who reached base with nine consecutive plate appearances over the weekend.
“Beyond how affection he has for his teammates, it’s not just about the energy he brings, the speed of his feet and the versatility he brings, it’s something that adds a big addition to our roster and another look,” Friedman said of Kim. “There’s no decision in the vacuum cleaner. It’s in the context of our roster and where we are. And he did a great job.”
