Meyer Shank Racing’s Helio Castroneves says he wants to beat Alex Palou’s streak of winning the race at the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday.
Three-time IndyCar champion Palou hit the purple patch at the start of the 2025 season. Chip Ganasi Driver has wiped out his rivals with four wins in five races held so far.
However, in all his successes in 2025 and in recent years, the Spaniard has never won a race on an oval track during IndyCar.
I want this weakness to be capitalized as Castroneves is chasing a record fifth victory in the Indy 500.
“CGR is another incredible team,” said the Brazilian. “They also won a lot of races and I feel that Scott Dixon is one of those people who competed with most of my career.
“He’s probably one of those people who have experience as a good team and speed, so he’s going to be there with Palou,” said Helio Castroneves, who detailed his rival.
“Parow is destroying everyone. It’s amazing in any sport. When there’s that momentum. It’s incredible. But the egg might stop this momentum. I’m trying to stop him.
Ironically, the nearest Palou was in 2021 when he was closest to a victory victory in the oval shape.
Since that defeat, Parow has matured as a driver and has won his name in history books, but the oval victory continues to escape him.
The Spaniard starts from sixth on the grid, two spots behind teammate Scott Dixon.
IndyCar’s part-timer Castroneves is in 22nd place on the grid.
The 109th running of the Indy 500 has a hybrid system in its first race.
“I think this race will be very interesting,” Castroneves said.
“There’s a lot going on, and people feel a bit like a brake when you’re actually using rebirth.
“You have to unfold and unfold at the right time in addition to this scenario, because when something becomes normal it’s given to a lot of people.”
However, Parow remains bright about his chances in the Indy 500, and he says he is “more confident than ever” about winning the race.
