When Chicago White Sox outfielder Michael Taylor clashed with Max Mancy at 3 base last week, general manager Brandon Gomez thought Muncie would play for the rest of the season.

However, Edman was out Sunday through Tuesday, but in his absence, utility Heisen Kim was filled with two bases, with Miguel Rojas playing third. The manager said Kim will continue to increase the chances of getting more opportunities at 2 bases when Edman moves to 3 bases.
“It’s going to be a good opportunity for him,” Roberts said of Kim. “It’s good to know more and gain a little more experience with him.”
The signed Kim from South Korea in January and decided to start him in the minor leagues. As this was his first season at MLB, Los Angeles wanted to give him more time to adjust after a slow start in spring training.
However, after the called out Kim for their MLB debut on May 3, the 26-year-old impressed enough organization to secure a regular spot on their active roster.
“Heisen, there’s something about him,” Roberts said. “That youthful enthusiasm, that joy, he’s happy to be there, he’s happy to be on the team, everyone feeds energy, he’s going to take a really good batting, he competes.”
He appeared at Center Field this season on the ‘ second base and Shortstop. At the plate, Kim is cutting .333/.376/.461 while hitting two home runs and 12 RBIs in 45 games.
With five 2025 NL All-Stars and several former All-Stars on the roster, Kim couldn’t get the time to play every day. While the await Muncie’s return in late August or September, he will try to make the most of this opportunity.
