The San Antonio Spurs have a great young core that will win multiple NBA championships in the future.
Victor Wenbanyama is undoubtedly the cornerstone superstar of the San Antonio Spurs. On his side, the Spurs also ruled Stephon Castle in Nava Rookie of the Year.
To improve things, the Spurs had the second overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The organization used it to draft another talented point guard, Dylan Harper.
Finally, the franchise has De’aaron Fox in the veteran role, signing a $229 million contract extension with the team.
The Spurs have an incredible core, but most of them are still in the budding stages of their careers.
As a result, it is wise to hire a talented player development coach. Former 2x NBA All-Star Rashard Lewis was handed the job by the Spurs, according to NBA insider Michael Scott.
“Rashardouis will be the San Antonio Spurs player development coach. He was a two-time NBA All-Star and a 2013 champion, averaging 14.9 points in 16 seasons with the Seattle Super Sonics, Orlando Magic, Washington Wizards and Miami Heat.
“He was also an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons,” Scott reported on X.
At the height of his career, Lewis was one of the NBA’s most prolific forwards, revealed by his two All-Star selections.
But by the early 2010s, Lewis was a role player for the Washington Wizard. He later joined the Miami Heat for the final two seasons of his career.
Lewis was part of the Heat’s 2013 NBA Championship roster featuring LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosch.
He was also part of the Heat’s roster in 2014 as he was not defeated by anyone other than the Spurs in the NBA Finals.
