Cooper Flag has already impressed one of the former Los Angeles Lakers players, even before his regular season debut.
The Dallas Mavericks landed the number one overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. It helped the team choose the Dukestar Cooper flag.
Flag is considered the next big thing in the NBA. He is expected from the age of 18 as he is expected to lead the Mavericks to multiple titles in the future.
Speaking of expectations from Flagg, no one can give him as good appreciation as his Mavericks teammate.
Despite being only 18 years old, NBA fans have incredible expectations from Flagg, especially Mavs Nation.
After all, Mavericks fans were struggling with Luka Donsic’s La Lakers trade. That being said, Max Christie, who was part of the deal, recently shared his honest views on Flag.
“Cooper is amazing. You guys are so excited to see him. You should be. He’s so young. He’s 18 years old… he certainly has that drive for him.
The former class added: “He’ll ultimately become an All-Star in this league. If he continues to work his way, he has all the tools. He has a way of thinking. He’s great for us.”
To be fair, being a perennial All-Star is the least expectation for the flag. Either way, it’s great that Flag’s teammates appreciate him so much.
There’s still time before the regular season begins, but fans have already seen what Flagg can do with hardwood.
Certainly, he wasn’t off to a good start in the 2025 NBA Summer League.
Flag bounced back with a 31-point performance in the next game. Flag has since been shut down as director Jason Kidd has seen what he hoped for the former Duke star.
It will be interesting to see if he can translate these skills during the regular season and help Mavs run the deep postseason in the newcomers year.
