Bali, Italy – This year’s Hopman Cup will take place in Bali, the southern Italian city, the International Tennis Federation announced Thursday.
The mixed team tournament featuring troops from Italian, French, Spanish, Greece and Canadian teams, as well as champion Croatia, are scheduled for July 16-20, the week after Wimbledon.
The Hopman Cup team consists of one male and one female player. The Ties features one men’s singles match, one women’s singles match and a mixed doubles match. Tournaments will not award ranking points.
Host Italy is represented by Jasmine Paolini and Flavio Coboli. Players from other teams have not yet been named.
Paolini won the women’s doubles title last year with French Open and Wimbledon finalist and partner Sara Errani at the Olympics in Paris.
Named after Australia’s great Harry Hopman, the Hopman Cup began in 1989 and was performed annually until 2020. It resumed in France in 2023, with Croatia’s Donabekic and Bornakolic winning.
For 30 years, the event was held in Perth, Australia, during the opening week of the tennis season.
Last year’s event, scheduled for Nice, France, was cancelled due to its proximity to the Olympics.
The move to Bali will add to the busy tennis schedule in Italy, hosting the ATP Finals and Davis Cup Finals in November.
