LeBron James was the subject of speculation this offseason, and was able to reunite with Mike Brown at the New York Knicks.
Trade speculation quickly heated up as soon as LeBron James chose the final season of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. Will the King agree to abandon his non-trade clauses and end his illustrious career with a new team?
Homecoming with the Cleveland Cavaliers makes sense. Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis’ reunion could also be a deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
The New York Knicks are ready to make the final under Mike Brown next season, so Big Apple has poised as a possible destination.
For five seasons, Mike Brown and James worked together for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Before James signed with the Miami Heat in 2010, the Knicks were one of the frontlines to land him before a shortage. James revealed that he cherishes business opportunities after his playing career is over, and New York offers as many ventures as Los Angeles.
Plus, the basketball fits next to Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns.
“LeBron of the Knicks, that’s viable.” Athletic Dave Dufou. “I think they’re a favorite to go to the Eastern final, especially if they traded for LeBron James now?”
LeBron quickly favoured the Knicks, even in his 40s, and won the Eastern Conference. The only teams that get in the way are Cavs, Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks, but it’s hilarious to imagine James not finishing in such a weak meeting.
When James first left Cleveland, it was due to his tense relationship with owner Dan Gilbert. He was nothing more than positive about Brown.
“You know what I mean because you know I have a relationship with Mike Brown? These guys know each other pretty well,” Dufour continued. “That elbow does LeBron like to run? I mean, Mike Brown loves to run that kind of thing.”
James owes $52.6 million next season, so the Knicks must part ways with solid players and start trading.
However, the Knicks have a way to do business with James, as they are bound by towns, Branson, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart.
Complete mock trade details:
- Knicks Received: LeBron James, Bronnie James, Dalton Knecht
- The Lakers receive Josh Hart and Anunoby
This trade begins the Elite 5 in New York for James to win. LeBron, Branson, Bridges, Town and Gershon Yabsel have great starting five, while Knecht, Mitchell Robinson, Jordan Clarkson and Miles McBride are closing the bench.
In LA, Doncic is paired with Anunoby, an upgrade from Dorian Finney-Smith and a heart’s dour guard that can get out of the bench behind Austin Reeves.
James has won the Eastern Conference in the past eight seasons with Cavs and Heat, and has won nine consecutive Eastern Conference Championships after returning from Hollywood.
