Mike Dunleavy, general manager of the Golden State Warriors, gave the roster an honest rating.
After losing a meeting with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Golden State Warriors make several decisions in the offseason.
They weren’t in a great place before bringing in Jimmy Butler, but his arrival completely turned things around for them.
However, his performance in the playoffs was not significant by his standards. Dwyane Wade called out for Butler’s failure to lead the way.
The report was revealed after he was sent out of the playoffs.
In an interview with his exit, general manager Mike Dunleavy expressed his thoughts on the roster the team has introduced this season.
Dunleavy took over the reins of GM from Bob Myers, the man who led the franchise to four championships in eight years.
They were big shoes to fill, but Dunleavy made some big decisions, including trading Klay Thompson and taking Butler to the team.
He said in an interview with Deguchi that he is much happier than his final offseason for Butler.
Speaking about the roster, Dunleavy said:
“We went out this year, we got it and now I feel better going next season with guys like Jimmy on our roster.
“We build it together with him, Steph, Draymond and some of the other players we have.
Overall, I feel that we are in much better shape now than we were a year ago. I’ll keep cutting this down. As long as Steph, Draymond, Steve and the coach still have fastballs, we will continue to pursue the title. ”
The Warriors were pushed into seven games by the Houston Rockets, just how physical the younger team was in their approach to dub.
Defeating the Timberwolves will always be tough, but Curry’s hamstring injury made things even more difficult as the attack completely broke without him.
Buddy Heald strengthened his performance for the team, but that wasn’t enough as the Timberwolves had the presence of players like Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle.
Dunleavy said the teams can compete for the title with the team they have, but they’ll want to know more about the perfect fit, such as Curry, who couldn’t play the final four playoff games.
“Every year, I think we can get into the mix in conversation like this year. We need a little luck. We need a little luck. We didn’t necessarily get it in the last few weeks, but if we’re in the mix, these guys have a chance.
“Yeah, overall, it’s a weird way to handle the season. I feel pretty good about it, but I hate how we didn’t care a bit about how far this team can go,” Dunleavy said.
