The Manchester United Scouts are reportedly watching Serie A look at one of the most reliable defenders they have to offer ahead of the potential moves in 2026.
Man UTD’s early 2026 target
Even after spending around £200 million on reinforcements over the summer, Manchester United still has a lot of work to do. As highlighted by their poor start, Reuben Amorim’s side was especially capable of strengthening their backline and midfield. That’s a big question as to whether or not the January transfer window presents an ideal time to be accurate.
For this reason, several potential targets have already emerged. Reports earlier this week show that both Eduardo Camavivanga and Federico Valverde have linked the Red Devils with a move towards Old Trafford, a highly ambitious deal to pull away. However, there is no doubt that both will be immediate upgrades to Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro.
If Reuben Amorim can’t turn things around faster than later, then there could be changes in the dugout as well. Reports earlier this week claim that Ineos is looking at others like Andoni Iraola and Marco Silva as potential candidates to replace the already struggling manager.
Since then, the manager himself has reiterated that meeting with Ir Jim Ratcliffe is just a routine this week, but the pressure has certainly been built.
If the former sports club boss holds his position until 2026, he could once again receive much needed investments from Ineo. As the Scouts are already watching the impressive Italian defenders, the Red Devil appears ready to welcome a fresher face when the time comes.
Man Utd sends scouts to see Bremer
According to TeamTalk, Man United Scouts has been spotted watching Gleison Bremer ahead of the potential move in 2026. TeamTalk praised the Juventus defender and dubbed one of the most reliable defenders Serie A has to offer. In that case, it’s hard to argue that United shouldn’t all be in the Brazilians.
League statistics 25/26 | Bremer | Matthijs de ligt |
|---|---|---|
Min | 270 | 360 |
Progressive Pass | 4 | 9 |
The tackle won | 0 | 5 |
Ball recovery | 14 | 14 |
The immediate numbers harshly reflect the Bremer, but it is worth noting that Juventus holds 46 clean sheets in Bremer’s 93 appearances. With almost one clean sheet recorded for each of the two games, you can see all the reliability of Brazil.
The 28-year-old also has received many acclaim for his time in Turin. Analyst Ben Matinson even described the defender as a “monster” in 2023, but has only improved since, so I’ve seen it.
With their scouts in place, it would be wise for Man United to dodge any competition and welcome South America in 2026.
