Tom Aspinoll may be more frustrating than UFC fans when it comes to John Jones’ situation.
The interim UFC heavyweight champions are looking for a chance to unify the heavyweight title with Jones, and it appears that the fight in seven months is yet to come close after the two division champions destroyed Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in November.
Speaking about the high-performance podcast, Aspinall was asked what he could do to launch a fight.
“I personally, I can’t do anything,” Aspineol said. “I think it’s on his side. I’ll fight wherever he wants – but I think it’s on the money.
“At this stage of his career, I think he has an incredible career. He appears to be 37 or 38 years old, but not only that, he has a million miles on his watch.
After Jones won the Myosic, he left the next move of his career there, where he could either retire or perhaps compete with Aspinel at the right price.
Aspinall understands why Jones wants to secure a huge amount of money at the end of his career, but he is a bit tired of waiting for Jones to commit – and is asked about the situation at this point.
“You put him there and I’m not trying to blow my trumpet away, but looking at the statistics, he’s literally the most dangerous guy in the UFC,” explained Aspinall. “I think John is a smart guy when you put him with a guy of my size who qualifies them at this stage of his career.
“I’m tired of (Jones’ conversation). I had enough. We either need to fight or move on to something else.”
