Tracy Cortez loves all the background noise ahead of her fight.
Top Ten ranked flyweight candidates describe themselves as personal, but Cortez often finds himself in headlines. Whether it’s because of her weight-cutting predicament with Rose Namajuna, who forced her to cut her hair clumps, don’t worry about a very public breakup with UFC fighter Brian Ortega or not respecting herself in honor.
Cortez has also been approaching her mental health issues. This has led me to spend a little time away from the Octagon in 2022 and 2023.
Sadly, many of the “drama” urged fight fans to oppose her. Especially after receiving her first UFC loss against Namajunas in July last year. However, Cortez refuses to let nasty headlines and deniers drag her in.
In fact, she accepts it.
“I’m a very personal person,” Cortez said on the Jaxxon podcast. “I don’t like people who know my (exp verse). But when I fight, there’s a lot of noise and personally thrive. I thrive. I love it. I love pressure.
Tracy Cortez returns to Octagon in UFC 317
Cortez will attempt to use some of that fuel on Saturday, June 28th. She will return to the Octagon for a clash with Viviane Araujo at UFC 317 during International Combat Week in Las Vegas.
Overall, Cortez is 11-2 in his mixed martial arts career, and these five wins are coming in the UFC. After beating Vanessa Mello, Stephanie Egger, Justin Quiche, Melissa Gutt and Jasmine Jasdavitius, her momentum was stopped with a brief occupation scrap with Rose Namajunas.
Now she has the opportunity to return to her victory column and continue climbing the flyweight rankings against Araujo.
