Jalen Green has some thoughts about the Houston Rockets trading for Kevin Durant.
It’s been weeks since the Houston Rockets made one of the biggest moves of the NBA offseason.
Prior to Game 7 of the NBA Finals, the Rockets traded with Kevin Durant and firmly established their intention to compete for the NBA Championship next season.
The rocket has made a lot of movement ever since. The biggest moves were bringing Dorian Finney Smith to the Rockets for $53 million.
However, to land Kevin Durant, the rocket had to give up some big pieces: Jalen Green. In fact, Rockets GM thanked Jalen Green during his time in Houston, but admitted it was time for change.
But what is Jalen Green’s thoughts on this situation? Well, the shooting guards don’t seem surprised that this deal happened.
Jalen Green spoke with the Houston Chronicle about his recent move to the Phoenix Suns as part of the Kevin Durant trade.
Greene was not blinded by trade as he knew the team was about to move forward from him. Moreover, he has no malicious intentions as this is the nature of the NBA’s business.
“Yeah, I had a feeling. They’ve been trying to trade me since last year. I haven’t been tripping. That’s better for the team.
“I know it’s business at the end of the day. I really can’t handle my feelings. Whatever happens, it happens. At the end of the day, I still had the opportunity to play basketball.”
Jalen Green was the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Unlike other stars in his class like Cade Cunningham, Green still couldn’t make a big splash in the NBA.
Perhaps the Rockets’ final straw was Green’s poor performance in the playoffs this year. The young star was perfectly visible from his depths against the Golden State Warriors.
Aside from his 38-point performance in Game 2, Greene has had poor scoring numbers for poor efficiency throughout the series.
Now, on the sun where expectations aren’t that high for him, Green is able to develop his scoring ability and efficiency well.
The Suns will be a midway team for the next few years, so Green can use this opportunity to try and deal with the holes in his game.
