Liverpool is expected to deal with offensive options in the summer, with one of the players who can arrive at Anfield being Anthony Gordon. Newcastle Winger reportedly approached to move in 2024, and although he signed a new contract early in the season, there may still be a chance he could return to Merseyside.
Gordon has gone through the ranks of Everton, but it has been well documented in the last few years that he grew up as a supporter for Liverpool. And fans of Premier League leaders hoped this fact would help them get their deal with Newcastle.
Gordon has recently referenced Liverpool in several interviews. Most notably, when we talked about the overlap with Gary Neville. And he still did.
Anthony Gordon drops Liverpool tips in a recent interview
As part of a roommate quiz with England teammate and Liverpool star Curtis Jones, Gordon revealed that his idol was Anfield legend Stephen Gerrard.
“Right, Stevie G. I think he’s an idol of all Scozers, right?”
It could be a busy summer for Gordon. Arsenal is said to be very keen to recruit him as a new starting winger, but when Liverpool makes a call they will be given his childhood loyalty and become a favorite to sign him.
But it should be noted that Liverpool probably won’t make Gordon’s move unless Liverpool sells Louis Diaz, which has been linked to Barcelona in recent months. And another obstacle is Newcastle, and they are not under pressure to say goodbye to one of their most important players. Especially considering he signed that new contract just a few months ago.
