Dwight Howard and Shaquille O’Neal have fixed the difference as the former is set to join him in the NBA Hall of Fame.
The two big guys who starred for Orlando Magic and the La Lakers have more in common than they would likely want to admit.
And they have had broken relationships over the years, and now it’s a love between Dwight Howard and Bona Fidet NBA legend Shaquille O’Neill.
That doesn’t mean that the truth of the occasional home is off limits. In a new interview, Dwight Howard admitted that he had one of Shaquille O’Neal’s former teammates, who were tougher matches.
Shaquille O’Neal remembers best by winning three NBA titles with the La Lakers, the last team in the league to achieve three peats between 2000 and 2002.
However, another part of Shaq’s legacy is his fourth final title, achieved at the Miami Heat in 2006.
O’Neal got a bit of help from fellow veteran Alonzo Mourning, who won one pick after him in the 1992 NBA Draft.
Speaking about the PBD podcast, Dwight Howard says he thought Alonzo Morning was a more frightening matchup than Shaquille O’Neal.
Howard explained: “His motor felt different. When we were fighting against the heat and they had Shaq with him, I would rather be against Shaq than Zo.
“‘Because Zo was going to fight every play against me.’ Zo is a better defense,” Zo was there in every play. ”
Howard’s comments rarely make Shaquille O’Neal really mad, and they’re not really surprised either.
With all of O’Neill’s sizes and skill, there was a sense that he left something on the table and could have gone even higher if he had really committed to it.
As the veteran did in 1996, Dwight Howard followed Shaquille O’Neill in 2012 by swapping the Orlando Magic for the LA Lakers.
That turned into a sour experience for Howard. Howard found a fit in his team and struggled to play with the same advantage he enjoyed with magic.
O’Neal took four years to win the title in LA, but Howard didn’t stick so long, signing with the Houston Rockets in 2013.
After subsequent spells with the Hawks, Hornets and Wizards, Howard returned to the Lakers for another run and helped with the title in the first 2019-20 of his career.
This was more of Alonzo Morning’s contract with the Heat, Net than Shack, drafted by Charlotte, and returned to Miami in 2005, winning the title later in his career.
