Welterweights Ian Machado Garry and Carlos Pleetz have agreed to meet at the new main event at the UFC Kansas City event on April 26th.
The UFC announced the matchup on Tuesday, but did not mention what happened to the original headliners between Jamaharhill and Halil Rountree.
Regardless of why Hill vs. Rountree was dropped, the UFC quickly moved to book a new main event.
Garry will accept the fight following his previous and subsequent battle with Sharkat Rakmomomov this December, determining the number one competitor in the welterweight division. Garry was short on the scorecard, but he gave Rakmonov the toughest test ever and now had the opportunity to bounce back to one of the fastest rising stars in the division.
Prates took part in the fight with a perfect 4-0 record in the UFC, and all his fights end by knockouts in the first or second round. The Brazilian was originally scheduled to face Jeff Neil at UFC 314, but Neil suffered an injury that drove him off the card.
Rather than rebooking him against another opponent that day, the UFC shifts the grating to the Kansas City headliners and instead faces Garry.
Garry vs. Prates also featured in the card headline on April 26th in the post-retirement match in which Anthony Smith faced David Onama in a featherweight clash.
