In recent developments, the International Cricket Council (ICC) issued a warning to the Pakistan Cricket Committee (PCB) for “violating multiple tournament rules” at the Asian Cup 2025. The ICC sent an email to the PCB regarding the shooting of the restricted area before the Asian Cup crash.
The match between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates was delayed by more than an hour on September 17th at Dubai International Stadium. In particular, the team refused to obtain the field in response to the ICC’s decision to remove the referee Andy Picroft despite multiple requests from the PCB.
PCB shared a mute video of the match with match referee Andy Pycroft on social media
Pakistan sent a letter to the ICC over the handshake controversy during the Asian Cup clash with India in Dubai. The PCB denounced the match’s referee Andy Pycroft, demanding removal from the referee panel, and even threatened to withdraw from the tournament.

After the ICC rejected the request, the PCB wrote another letter on the eve of the game against the UAE. On the day of the match, players were instructed to stay at the hotel, and the PCB held a lengthy meeting that included Chairman Mohshin Nakvi and former Chiefs Najam Seti and Ramisu Raja.
PCB later posted on social media that Pycroft had apologised to their camp. They also shared the X video. A conversation with Captain Salman Ali Aga introduced Zimbabwean officials, and the manager navigated the manager in the judge’s room, while Director Mike Hesson was in the judge’s room, but the audio was muted.
ICC is set to take strict action against PCBs in the Asian Cup to “violate the law”
The ICC has emailed the PCB about violation restrictions within the Player and Match Official Area (PMOA). CEO Sanjog Gupta described repeated filming in the restricted zone as serious fraud and violations of tournament protocols.
“ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta told PCB that the board was found guilty of repeated violations of PMOA on the day of the match. PCB has received an email,” a tournament source told PTI.
PCB has yet to respond to an email sent on September 17th, when the match was an hour late. It is unclear how the PCB will respond after receiving another strong warning.
