Liverpool is keeping an eye on the new striker’s summer moves, with Darwin Nunes almost certainly set to leave Anfield in three years. The club has arranged sales for Uruguay International and hopes that sales to certain clubs will benefit his efforts to bring about alternatives.
Nunes was struggling with Liverpool. He was often overlooked by Arne Slot, especially this season. He wants to continue his career from the Premier League champions and needs to get his wish.
One of the clubs that Nunes is interested in is Atletico Madrid, with Diego Simeone being extremely enthusiastic about the former Benfica striker. And Liverpool is ready to reach an agreement with La Liga Giants at a much lower fee than they hoped they would receive.
Liverpool wants to sign Julian Alvarez as a Nunez alternative
According to the Anfield Watch, Liverpool is ready to accept just £35 million for Nunez, but only from Atletico. And their hope to do this is that the deal could be hit for high Julian Alvarez on the candidate list of sports director Richard Hughes.
Liverpool is believed to have been interested in Newcastle’s Alexander Isaac in recent months, but it appeared to have abandoned him as an option, so they moved to Alvarez, who had a very productive first season at Atletico. They want to bring him back to British football just 12 months after his departure in Man City, but to do so, they will need to offer a club record.
It is still unknown whether this trick will work, but it looks like a clever tactic from Liverpool to hang Nunez carrots on Atletico’s face.
