The UFC has not officially confirmed that Ilia Topria has returned to the Octagon this summer, but “El Matador” dropped a big bomb about the International Fight Week card in Las Vegas on June 28th.
Since opening his featherweight title to pursue two divisions of glory, fans have been waiting with breath as Topria returns into the cage and, more importantly, who it opposes.
We don’t have the answer to the latter yet, but Topuria sheds light on his next fight, suggesting he is active in UFC 317.
“I’m ready for myself,” Topuria said as she appeared on Telemadrid. “I hope to make you happy again on June 28th.”
We don’t know when, but Ilia Topria is not the one to fight
Unfortunately, we still don’t know if Topuria will compete in the event.
Currently, all signs govern the lightweight title holder Islamic Makhachev, but there have been some rumors suggesting that the “Dagestani destroyer” could choose to open a 155 pound crown in pursuit of welter-class gold.
If that proves true, Topuria could face former lightweight Charles Oliveira due to the free strap.
With International Fight Week less than two months into Dana White and Co. will need to delete his UFC 315 card card in Montreal, perhaps next weekend, in the near future.
