Valentino Rossi, a convert to sports skull racing from MotoGP, says that his favorite race car is the Yamaha M1 and Cheekiely.
Roundfire questions at the World Endurance Championship asked Rossi, the current BMW Factory driver, to name his favourite car a history.
For decades, Italians began sampling a variety of four-wheel machines, including the mid-2000s Ferrari Formula 1 cars and Mercedes-AMG DTM cars. Most recently, I tested the BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDH prototype at the Bahrain International Circuit in November 2024.
But in response to that question about WEC’s “Go The Distance Challenge,” the 46-year-old simply replied, “Motorbike, Yamaha M1.”
The M1 was, of course, the bike where Rossi won four of his seven premier class titles.
He first joined Yamaha in 2004 and spent the rest of his career at MotoGP with the Iwata-based brand, except for an unfortunate two-year stint with Ducati in the early 2010s.
During his time at Yamaha, he often whispered about switching to other forms of motorsport, including the possibility of Rossi taking part in Formula 1, but after retiring from MotoGP in 2021, he moved to sports car racing.
Rossi is always remembered for his success in MotoGP, but the Italian said his career goal at this point is to “win at WEC.”
The Italian is currently in the middle of a sophomore campaign with the WRT team belonging to BMW in WEC’s LMGT3 division.
He shared WRT’s #46 BMW M4 GT3 with Kelvin van der Rinde and Ahmad Al Maasy as the designated silver-rate driver in the lineup, finishing 11th in the Qatar season opening game last month, just outside the points.
Rossi also said that the most enjoyable part of his job is “driving or riding.”
