Cain Velazquez will be transferred to Wasco State Prison in Wasco, California, where he will be processed and evaluated prior to being moved to one of California’s major prison facilities.
According to a report from MMA Fighting, Velázquez is eligible for parole in March 2026, but that date allows him to throw away additional time for good actions or participation in a particular prison program.
It should come as comforting for fans, fellow fighter jets, Velázquez’s family and friends, who were sentenced to five years in prison last month.
Velazquez was arrested in February 2022 after engaging in a high-speed 11-mile pursuit while chasing a vehicle carrying Harry Goallete, who was accused of abusing Barresquez’s son at a daycare his mother owns. Velazquez fired several rounds from the car’s handgun and hit Paul Bender, Goallete’s stepfather, who was driving at the time. Bender was treated for a life-threatening injury.
Velazquez was arrested shortly without incident and was slapped on numerous charges. Velazquez stayed behind the bar for eight months before being granted bail.
He had been under house arrest ever since, but was allowed to travel for work.
Cain Velazquez was given credit for the time he was provided.
Velazquez was given the credit for the time he served during his sentence last month, leaving him with just two years in prison. While jailed in unforeseen circumstances or inadequate decision-making, there is a good chance that the former MMA fighter could become a free man at this time of the year next year.
He returns to court on April 16th when he faces reparations for his crimes. Compensation includes wage loss, medical expenses, treatment, counseling and insurance deductions.
Guralte faces one count of felony crimes of perverted behaviour along with minors. In January he was given a judicial trial date of June 2 by Judge Benjamin Williams.
