One of Pedro Acosta’s top options has been dismissed as a realistic destination if he leaves KTM.
The saga surrounding Acosta will be at the epicenter of the MotoGP rider market this year.
He is signed to KTM until the end of next year, offering major complications if he is looking for an exit.
However, Acosta and his manager, Albert Varera, are constantly linked to leaving the current makers, which saw their competitiveness decline this year.
“Problem” signing Pedro Acosta has been identified
The VR46 is an obvious option. Valentino Rossi sees Acosta in 2026 as the man who can deny another MotoGP title.
Rossi’s team also has access to one factory Ducati currently in the hands of Fabio di Giannantonio, allowing them to seduce Acosta.
However, they were shot down in 2026 as a realistic alternative to Acosta.
“There’s a lot of talk swirling around. No one knows,” said Gavin Emmett of TNT Sports.
“But the general story about paddock is that they are looking for an exit.
“The problem is that his KTM agreement has a very, very high release clause.
“People say VR46? On this planet, there’s no way to get someone out of the contract, no matter what the story is.
“That’s before you pay them.
“We could see Honda in the factory wanting it.”
Michael Laberty added:
“He works hard trying to negotiate something.
“Honda has resources and could potentially open a checkbook.”
Honda also reportedly will provide large sums of money to Toprak Razgatlioglu.
The once incredible Japanese manufacturer dreams of twin Razgatlioglu with Acosta, a lineup of terrifying riders.
For now, they have Joan Mir and Luca Marini on their factory bikes.
LCR rider Johann Zarco was often impressed with Honda.
Suddenly, after years of less, Honda’s performance this season has made it an attractive destination for 2026 and beyond.
