The Los Angeles Lakers have secured two much-needed victories and are proving that they can succeed in the game without the currently injured LeBron James.
The second of two consecutive backs is out of the way for the latest La Lakers on their latest schedule. This latest game with the San Antonio Spurs has been relocated for LA Fires.
And in this case it may have worked in the favor of the team. Now there’s no Victor Wenbanyama going out during the healthy season, so the Spurs.
The Lakers scored 125-109, with the victory led by Austin Reeves, with 30 points in the team’s victory.
Austin Reeves believes he is developing chemistry in a space created by his new teammate, Luka Donsic.
He explained:
Speaking at a postgame press conference, Luka Donsic expressed his own admiration for Austin Reeves and did not understand how he slipped into the 2021 NBA Draft.
Doncic commented:
“It’s incredible that he’s not drafted.
The Lakers were just too happy to scooped him up, and Reeves is becoming more important to the team.
This week, Austin Reeves became the first Laker to Magic Johnson to reach 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists during his first four seasons with the team.
The difference is that Magic Johnson was the first overall pick in the 1979 NBA Draft. And, as Luka Donsic pointed out, Reeves was not drafted.
Donsic wasn’t the first overall, as the Phoenix Suns acquired DeAndre Ayton.
The Reaves have hit the form and he averaged 21.2 points since the All-Star break. Specifically, in March, he averaged 23.4 points.
The Lakers need to continue with this kind of numbers when they face the next nugget.
